ImageHindu activists belonging to Dharam Sena have gate-crashed into a Christian convention in Jabalpur and tried to disrupt its proceedings. They have blamed the organisers of the programme for forced conversions in and around.

The 53rd annual convention was conducted at Pentecostal Church in Khamaria of Jabalpur district, Madhya Pradesh from 10–15   October 2006. Around 350 Christians participated in the meeting.   On 10 October 2006, the first day of the convention, around 80 activists belonging to Dharam Sena entered the premises, carrying weapons.

As soon as they entered the venue, they started to shout against Christians. They used foul language, accusing the organisers of using force to convert Hindus living around to Christianity. They raised slogans like: “Close down the meeting," and “Speakers, go back". They also attempted to tear down the banners of the programme displayed at the premises.

Since Rev Augustine Rao, the Pastor of the church, had already informed the police about the programme, there were 10 policemen on duty. The police prevented the activists from attacking the convention. The attackers threatened to bomb the venue if the organisers continued with the programme. The police later took the attackers to the police station where they filed a complaint against the Pastor and his congregation alleging large-scale forced conversions in the area.

All India Christian Council (aicc) leader Saji Abraham contacted Amarinder Singh, the CSP of Jabalpur. The police official assured that nothing would happen to disturb the convention. Thereafter the convention continued without any disturbance.
