ImagePastors Vinod Karsal and Sekhar Kashav of Assembly of God Church in Jabalpur of Madhya Pradesh were arrested on false conversion allegation on 14 August 2006.  Both of them were taken into custody under Section 3 and 4 of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religious Act, 1968.

According to Pastor Kishan Singh of Assembly of God Church in Jabalpur, Pastors Vinod and Sekhar went to pray for a sick member of the Church on 14 August 2006. Neighbours happened to be members of Bajrang Dal and Siva Sena. As soon as they heard the voice of prayer and singing, they alerted the office of Bajrang Dal and Siva Sena. Within a short time nearly 100 activists of Bajrang Dal and Siva Sena gathered in front of the house, shouting against conversion attempts.

Police Inspector Soni said Toni Kumar Choudhary, a leader of Bajrang Dal, filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Gorha Bazar police station against Pastors Vinod and Sekhar on alleged forcible conversion. They said the Pastors were offering Rs 10,000 and a job to anyone willing to convert to Christianity.

The police official said, "Some conversion materials like the Bible and Christian literature were collected from Pastor Vinod's house." The All India Christian Council (aicc) objected, saying there was no such thing called conversion material! “How can the Bible and Christian literature be called conversion material?" the Christian Council asked.

Pastor Sanjeev of Assembly of God Church said Pastors Vinod and Sekhar had been released on bail on 15 August 2006. Jabalpur Pastor Fellowship met on 16 August 2006 to discuss future course of action. He also said in the last six months, 28 such had been filed against Christian workers.

Toni's complaint against Pastors Vinod and Sekhar was nothing but false, aicc said. “Can these culprits who are involved in false allegation against Christians be ever booked under the Indian Penal Code's section 193?” the Christian Council wondered.
