ImageBhopal: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice vide their case No 941/12/22/07-08-UC dated 5 July 2007 to the Chief Secretaries of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to present their explanation to the case of arrest of Sudheer Xavier and the closure of his office at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

In a statement issued by All India Christian Council (aicc) on 24 August 2007, aicc President Dr Joseph D’Souza, Public Affairs Secretary Sam Paul and Madhya Pradesh aicc unit President Prof Daud welcomed the order and thanked the NHRC for their order to the Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh governments. Dr Joseph D’Souza said, “The open defiance of law and order and the anarchy by Viswa Hindu Parishad and Yuva Sena, the Sangh Parivar outfits in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh has to stop at any cost.”

Sam Paul deplored the malicious actions of VHP and its affiliates in causing terror among the Christians in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. “By spreading hatred and falsehood, and issuing threats to all those that follow Christ, they are causing terrible fear and discomfort in the Christian community,” he said.
