While the Christians in Gujarat heaved a sigh of relief on Good Friday, it was the turn of the whole Christian community in the country on Easter Sunday! The National Democratic Alliance Government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, chose to hold the All-India Pre-Medical Test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education with the sole aim to hurt the feelings of the Christians. Peeved by the Government’s continued anti-Christian measures, some Christian groups approached the Supreme Court to intervene.

But even before the Court could intervene, the examinations were cancelled, following the alleged leak of the question papers. The sudden cancellation shocked thousands of candidates, who were readying for the test. Some of them even missed their Easter celebrations to take part in the test.

Of course, the examinations were later conducted without any fiasco. This led some skeptics to wonder if there was any need to hold the examinations on a day that is sacred to a particular section of society. “God has his own ways to correct such foolish misadventures,” remarked a Christian housewife on hearing about the cancellation of the examinations on Easter Sunday.  Easter Sunday is not for examinations but for celebrations!
