ImageSram Ashram that provides assistance to Independent Church pastors at various levels in Kakinada of Andhra Pradesh has been attacked by Hindu activists, alleging forcible conversions.

On 15 January 2008, the activists numbering around 100 barged into the centre where a special meeting for the pastors was going on. They came with belts to attack. Since the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) was present at the meeting, they went away after ransacking the place.

On the following day, the Sub Inspector of the local police station, along with his crew, came to the centre and took away the microphone system. They also took Pastor Ratnam Babu of the centre and three leaders to the police station and locked them in.

All India Christian Council (aicc) has condemned the attack on the centre and sought immediate protection to the Christian community and their institutions in the area.
