Hyderabad: Christian preachers have been attacked by activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Bainsa town in Adilabad district of Andhra Pradesh. A group of preachers belonging to Brethren Church went to Bainsa to preach the Gospel on 23 May 2008. On getting the information, the RSS activists first attacked their vehicles and then beat them up, resulting in serious injuries to them. The preachers were later taken to the police station at Bainsa for necessary action. Soon three truckloads of Hindu fanatics, numbering about 200, surrounded the police station to attack the preachers again. The preachers had to remain inside the police station as the attackers lay outside waiting for them. Meantime another preacher came to Bainsa without knowing anything about the attack. He was also holed up and thrashed severely.
All India Christian Council has condemned the attack on the preachers and sought protection and safety for them. The Council is making efforts to get them out safely.
