Bhopal: Classes were being conducted as usual in the Saint Thomas School at around 12:00 p.m., when suddenly around 25 young people belonging to the ABVP [Akhil Bharti Vidyarthi Parshad] the students' wing of the BJP went to the school and started shouting slogans. They started accusing the school authorities of insulting the National Anthem. Fifteen of them managed to get inside and got into the Principal Bro Thomas' office and broke the window panes.
The whole issue had arisen as a result of a disciplinary action taken on one of the students – Mr. Arvind. Mr. Arvind had been given the responsibility to conduct the Republic Day programme for the school as the drill master. The programme was not conducted properly and for this he was suspended for two days. Angry over being suspended, Arvind reported the matter to the ABVP and RSS and Bajrang Dal. Following this, miscreants from the groups indulged in vandalism and destroyed a car and some other property on the 27th of Jan.
The police force is currently in the school and teachers are being investigated. (Source: Presecution Update India, 03 Feb 2009)
