Bhopal: Films from over 40 countries will be screened in the four-day International Tribal Film Festival to be organised by the Madhya Pradesh Tribal Welfare Department in the 'City of Lakes' from 18 June 2009.
Around 10 nations' diplomats and ambassadors will also take part in the festival. Formation of jury is underway to select the best films, which will be bestowed with the prize later.
Tribal Welfare Department's undertaking Vanya Managing Director Sriram Tiwari says films from 40 countries, including Argentina, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Peru, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, United States, Switzerland and England besides India, will be screened. Reportedly, the world's first International Tribal Film Festival was held at Indore in Madhya Pradesh last year. The film festival would start with tribal folk dances and music competition at the Ravindra Bhawan premises in Bhopal. About 1,000 tribal artists from various parts of the state would present traditional folk dances and music programmes. Tribal artists from more than 22 districts would perform folk dances beginning at 5 pm. Dance troupes would perform Bhagoria, Karma, Saila, Rai Dadar, Gendi, Indel, Pardhoni, Danda, Madai, Uglavania, Gehar, Madal and other dance forms in their traditional attire.
