Bhopal: Two police officers, including a head constable, have been dismissed from service for allegedly raping a Dalit woman at Amla police station in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh a few months ago.
Head constable Nandkishore Mishra and Constable Suresh Choure were dismissed by the Hoshangabad range Deputy Inspector General of Police BB Sharma, the police said on 6 August 2009.
The policemen had allegedly raped a Dalit woman in the police station after she was arrested in a dowry-related case, they said.
The action against the two policemen has been taken on the intervention of Madhya Pradesh Director General of Police SK Raut as a number of women organisations had demanded immediate action against them.
