ImageChristians were attacked again in Jhabua district of Madhya Pradesh on 15 September 2006 during an afternoon prayer service at the house of Pastor Kapsingh.

A mob of around 40 people attacked Pastors Kapsingh and Ray Singh alleging that they were indulging in converting people at these gatherings. Both the pastors were beaten up, resulting in serious injuries to them. Members of the congregation were also attacked, forcing them to disperse.

The pastors were charged under sections 295 A, 294, 506 of the Indian Penal Code and under the sections 3 and 4 of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act.

The Superintendent of Police and Thana In-charge, the officials assured that the pastors would be kept safe and necessary medical treatment be given.  They also said bail would be granted as soon as all the formalities for their release were completed.
