Concern over rising human rights violation |

 Belgaum: All India Christian Council (aicc) has expressed concern over the growing incidence of human rights violations in India.Speaking at a seminar on human rights organised by aicc in Belgaum of Karnataka on 9 July 2010, Pastors and Christian leaders underlined the need for all leaders in the community to work in unity to counter all issues related to human rights violations, especially in the minority communities.
The seminar, attended by 240 Pastors and Christian leaders from different denominations and churches in Belgaum district, was inaugurated by Rev Shadrak, District superintendent of Methodist Church, Belgaum. He stressed the need for all the Pastors and leaders to come together to exhibit the love of Christ and serve the community in unity.
Dr Sam Paul, aicc national secretary, expressed concern over the increasing number of attacks on Christians and called upon government officials to protect the community. He also reminded the Christian leaders and Pastors of the need to exercise their authority by using all the legal and media facilities available.
Rev Kumar Swamy, aicc (Karnataka) president, appreciated the work done by the Pastors and Christian leaders and encouraged them to be sensitive in presenting the Gospel in a changed context.
Das Suryavanshi, State Commissioner for Disabilities, urged the Pastors and Christian leaders as citizens of India to get all the benefits “that are due for minorities”.Feroze Sait, member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Belgaum, said, “I love and respect the Christian community as I am one of the beneficiaries of their education. I will do whatever I can for them.” He assured them to get necessary land for a cemetery in Belgaum.
