ImageHindu fanatics have asked a pastor not to build a church at Rodham of Ananthapur district in Andhra Pradesh.

At about 10 am on 2 January 2007, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Giri, a government school teacher, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lokesh Gupta mobilized more than 250 people to protest against the building of a church in Rodham. The land was purchased for the church building by Good Shepherd Community Church (GSCC).

Giri and Gupta organized a meeting and invited local MPTC Subbaratnamma, village sarpanch and ex-sarpanch. There were more than 250 people gathered near the site where the church building construction was planned. They raised slogans against Christianity and the Pastor. Pastor Eliphaz was accused of converting people to Christianity in the area.

The village leaders called Pastor Elipahaz to the meeting and asked him not to construct the church in view of its proximity to a Hindu temple. The church site is about 200 feet away from the temple.
