Dalit widow raped in police custody |

A dalit widow (35) was raped by two constables in police lock-up in Patna of Bihar. An FIR has been lodged against the policemen and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the case.
According to the victim, she was picked up by the police in a murder case and kept in the lock-up at Dhalpura police outpost in Patna on 9 September 2004 where the two police constables got her intoxicated and raped her repeatedly. When she complained, she was moved to Beur central jail. The woman has now been sent for medical examination and a magisterial inquiry has been ordered.
