 Hindu fundamentalists have done it again! Taking the law into their hands, about 50 Bajrang Dal activists, gatecrashed into Independent Church at Berikkai in Hosur district of Tamil Nadu and manhandled Pastor Govindraj on 5 May 2004. After ransacking the place of worship extensively, they left, shouting Jai Sri Ram!
Not to be beaten in the cultural policing game, the activists later walked into the local police station and filed an FIR against the pastor, alleging that he was involved in forcibly converting people of the area through inducement. The police duly arrested the pastor and put him in jail.
On receiving the information, aicc unit of Karnataka got the pastor out on bail and made necessary arrangement to provide him legal assistance. Meanwhile a fact-finding team, consisting of prominent Christian, Dalit and Muslim leaders, has been sent to Berikkai for further action. |
