A pregnant Dalit woman has been allegedly raped by two upper caste youths in front of her three-year-old child at Tewra village in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh.

"The two youths entered the woman's house at Tewra on 24 November 2006 when her husband was out for some work. They raped her and threatened her that she would be killed if she informed anyone," police sources said.

The 26-year-old woman told her husband about the incident and on their complaint, the police registered a case of assault and rape against the two youths.

The incident comes just a day after a Dalit woman's nose was allegedly chopped off at Narottampur village in the district by a landlord and his son for ‘defiling’ their land by cutting grass from it.
